When the 2016 Subaru Legacy launched, I was working at a Mazda & Subaru dealership. Both Mazda and Subaru had done very recent redesigns of the Legacy and Mazda6 (the 2015 model year for both I think), and while both were nice, there was a much larger and more noticeable improvement between the 15 and 16 Legacies. I remember how easy it was to get people to buy these cars brand new, and seeing another one after 10 years really drives home what a good choice those original owners made! Despite the weight from the symmetrical all-wheel drive system and the heavier focus on torque than fuel efficiency or horsepower of the 2.5L boxer motor, The 2016 Legacy still manages to get 36mpg on the highway and 26mpg in the city. The car grips the road and gives you a feeling of control without overdoing it by making you feel every single pothole, crack, and bump on the California highways. The seats are comfortable and roomy, and there's an enormous amount of space for a car this size in the trunk. The champagne coloring of the paint, while not my first choice for that model year, looks significantly better than most “gold” painted cars and has aged magnificently. In addition to it being in mostly good shape when we acquired this car, our mechanics performed several maintenance functions including new rear brake pads, but the big reconditioning job we performed was for the valve body. This generation of Legacy has aged very well, except for that specific issue, which will be of no concern to you, the customer, because we have taken care of it for you. At The Car Dad, we only sell a car if we believe it will drive off the lot and be ready to roll for a long time without major issues, and this one was a doozy!
