The first car I ever felt any ownership over was a Chevy Malibu, albeit a Malibu that was 10 to 15 years older than this one. It was The Car Mom's car, but when I first had my license, it was the vehicle that I got to borrow to do errands and all sorts of teenage activities. I'm pretty sure this Malibu has better technology all the way around, and would put that old early 2000s Malibu I honed my driving skills on to shame in most regards, but it still makes me nostalgic for the old one, and you can feel the same brand loyalty in the layout of this car. This particular Malibu was a commercial vehicle, and there's usually two types of commercial vehicles: those driven by employees who don't care and those driven by people who like their jobs. Jobs. Judging by the great condition this car is in, and the regularity of its servicing, I'm betting personally that if it wasn't the same person driving it for the business, it was a series of drivers who at the very least liked their job, if not the car they drove for it. Considering our family has been in cars for about 42 years, the level of care given to this car matches the level of for a lot of our family cars, which might be why it feels so familiar to me. Simple, easy, efficient driving. This Malibu has an ecotec 1.5L turbocharged engine that gets 36mpg on the highway and 27mpg in the city, and still generates 160hp. The car doesn't weigh very much and handles beautifully. The Carfax shows this car had regular maintenance done, and it shows in the way the car feels.
